ESP cards for testing extra-sensory perception, also known as Zener cards after their inventor, American psychologist Karl Zener; popularized by parapsychologist Joseph Banks Rhine of the Parapsychology Laboratory at Duke University in North Carolina. The deck consists 25 cards with one of five simple symbols on each.
